I’ve heard off-hand remarks from a few people recently about “cheating” at EPACC by bringing a thermos or not drinking coffee or whatnot. There is really no such thing as cheating at coffee club. Come as you are, bring a stove or not, and ride your bike or don’t, whatever. NBD. En Plein Air Coffee Club will meet at 8am on Friday 8th July 2016 at Victrola Roastery. United States v. Eichman was a 1990 Supreme Court case that struck down a federal law against desecrating the US flag. The case concerned two groups, one in Washington DC and one Seattle, who burned flags to protest the newly-passed law. The court found for the protesters and the charges of desecrating the flag were dismissed. However, the Seattle defendants were still in trouble for stealing the flag they burned from the now-demolished Capitol Hill Post Office. Sakuma Viewpoint is named after Donald K. Sakuma, who was a landscape architect and professor at UW. “His firm has designed more than 15 parks and recreation facilities in the Pacific Northwest, including View Park at Harborview Hospital, and Hing Hay Park in the International District. His firm also is a consultant to Lawrence Halprin & Associates on the Freeway Park.¹” EPACC will convene at 8am on Friday 20th May 2016 at Sakuma Viewpoint. Here’s a map.

EPACC will meet at 7:30am (note earlier time) on Friday 13 May 2016 at Plymouth Pillars Park. The columns at this park come from the original Plymouth Congregational Church, which was demolished in 1966 to build a newer structure. Here’s a map.

In celebration of the new 520 bridge bike lane opening in a year and a half, EPACC will convene at 8am on Friday 6th May 2016 simultaneously at Magnuson Park and Heritage Park. Bring your binoculars to see the other half of the party.

Maple Leaf reservoir was built in 1912 as an open-water reservoir. It was demolished in 2009 to build a buried reservoir topped with a 16-acre park, completed in 2013. EPACC will meet at 8am on Friday 29th April 2016 at the picnic shelter. Here’s a map.
